Flora & Fauna
The connection of two continents
Due to its unique geographical location, Panama boasts a greater diversity of flora and fauna than any other country in Central America. This natural land bridge connects North and Central America with South America and is therefore home to species from both continents. In the Land of the Fish
Pa-na-ma, translated from the language of the Cueva Indians, means "place of many fish." It's no wonder, then, that ceviche, one of the most traditional appetizers, is prepared with fish (corvina). "Pescado frito" (fried fish) is a very popular main course. The best way to experience this is to try it yourself at the Mercado Marisco or Sabores del Chorillo.

This peninsula developed a unique heritage of Spanish, French, and American colonial and Art Nouveau architecture, as well as Neoclassical architecture. Although people consider Casco Viejo a "colonial city," its architecture is actually eclectic and dominated by French and Republican styles.
